Established in 1990 by Gary Begley, Saddlery Australia, Burrum River Saddlery School is located at Pacific Haven, near the historic little town of Howard. Howard is thirty minutes north of Maryborough and Hervey Bay in Queensland.
The school employs the most experienced accredited tutors who are passionate about passing on their knowledge to students wishing to learn the noble and traditional art of making a Saddle, Bridle & Whip workshops.
Graham Wendt was our very first student. Graham completed a traditional handcrafted Australian Stock Saddle and was extremely proud of his achievements.
Burrum River Saddlery School has had numerous students attend the schools since Graham’s debut. All students have shown a high level of competency and achievement.
CLASSROOM & WAREHOUSE
Most of the students have progressed further to expand their knowledge enrolling in additional classes presented by our experienced tutors.
All students receive a certificate upon completion of their chosen course.
COTTAGE WITH BUNK STYLE ACCOMMODATION AND CAMP KITCHEN
Accommodation options are available for those attending courses at the school. The example pictured on the left is our cottage with bunk style accommodation and camp kitchen area.

Unique to Burrum River Saddlery School
The Saddlery School is located adjacent to the Burrum River Saddlery Supply. This enables students to gain knowledge of all types of leather and their uses in the industry. Students are encouraged to browse through the warehouse facility and select their own buckles, rings and conchos when making their bridles and breastplates.
